Drones Over American Neighborhoods
February 17, 2013 - Since 2007, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued 1,428 permits to domestic drone operators with 327 listed as still active. Among these permit holders are law enforcement, universities, state transportation departments and at least seven federal agencies. These remote controlled aircraft range from tiny model airplanes up to large Predator types which could be modified to carry weapons.
Just recently in Alabama, a midsized drone was used to monitor the bunker where a 65-year-old gunman held a 5-year-old boy hostage. Authorities refused to say who was operating the AeroVironment drone. The F.B.I. eventually stormed the bunker, killing the man and safely rescuing the little boy.
Reps. Ted Poe (R-Texas) and Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) introduced privacy legislation Thursday that would require police to get a warrant or a court order before operating a drone to collect information on individuals.
“We need to protect against obtrusive search and surveillance by government and civilian use,” Poe said.
15 states are considering proposals to limit drone use. The City Council in Charlottesville, Va., passed a resolution on Feb. 4 barring local police from using drones to collect evidence in criminal cases.
Some people say that the airspace above their homes is private property. Well, sorta. The Federal Aviation Administration governs the airspace and should you decide to place a tower or any object above the tree level in your yard you better be prepared to follow local and federal guidelines. Drones are considered aircraft, and guess what- aircraft have a the privilege, providing they obtained proper permits, to fly over your property. Should you decide to shoot one down, well, I hope you have some really good legal representation cause your ass is gonna need it.
It’s the times we live in folks. Look who occupies our White House and all the drastic things that have come about in such a short span of time. You know, like in the past four years. Our privacy rights, along with several other constitutional rights are being tested daily by those who seek to own us. This is no longer your grandfathers America. Better get used to it. -JRoycroft

IRS Says Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Cost You $20,000 Per Year
January 31, 2013 – Ready to bend over on behalf of those Obama voters? Screw Obama, I’ll be paying the fine instead. -JRoycroft
In the IRS final regulation issued on Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service is assuming that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.
“The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000,” the regulation says.
From CNSNEWS.COM: Using the conditions laid out in the regulations, the IRS calculates that a family earning $120,000 per year that did not buy insurance would need to pay a “penalty” (a word the IRS still uses despite the Supreme Court ruling that it is in fact a “tax”) of $2,400 in 2016.
For those wondering how clear the IRS’s clarifications of this new “penalty” rule are, here is one of the actual examples the IRS gives:
“Example 3. Family without minimum essential coverage.
“(i) In 2016, Taxpayers H and J are married and file a joint return. H and J have three children: K, age 21, L, age 15, and M, age 10. No member of the family has minimum essential coverage for any month in 2016. H and J’s household income is $120,000. H and J’s applicable filing threshold is $24,000. The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000.
“(ii) For each month in 2016, under paragraphs (b)(2)(ii) and (b)(2)(iii) of this section, the applicable dollar amount is $2,780 (($695 x 3 adults) + (($695/2) x 2 children)). Under paragraph (b)(2)(i) of this section, the flat dollar amount is $2,085 (the lesser of $2,780 and $2,085 ($695 x 3)). Under paragraph (b)(3) of this section, the excess income amount is $2,400 (($120,000 – $24,000) x 0.025). Therefore, under paragraph (b)(1) of this section, the monthly penalty amount is $200 (the greater of $173.75 ($2,085/12) or $200 ($2,400/12)).
“(iii) The sum of the monthly penalty amounts is $2,400 ($200 x 12). The sum of the monthly national average bronze plan premiums is $20,000 ($20,000/12 x 12). Therefore, under paragraph (a) of this section, the shared responsibility payment imposed on H and J for 2016 is $2,400 (the lesser of $2,400 or $20,000).”

Assault Weapons Ban of 2013

January 24, 2013 – You can thank the Obama regime along with that other enemy of the 2nd Amendment, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, for trying their absolute damnedest to control, and ultimately disarm law abiding citizens of the United States of America.
This legislation has little chance of passing, but it just goes to show proof that our 2nd Amendment rights are being attacked by the Obama regime.
Many local law enforcement agencies across America have made it known that they will not enforce this new legislation if it becomes federal law. In fact some states are letting it be known that they will arrest any federal agent who attempts to enforce the law in their states.
This legislation does but one thing, it disarms, and leaves innocent, law abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals who do not give a flying damn about laws. This legislation insures that we the people of America will have no benefit of protecting ourselves from attack by criminals or the federal government. I won’t be surrendering any of my guns to any law enforcement official. -JRoycroft
Here are the details of a bill introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and other Democrats in the Congress, which would restrict over 150 semi-automatic weapons and place new limits on the size of ammunition magazines.
This information, including a list of weapons, was provided by backers of the new legislation:
Assault Weapons Ban of 2013
The legislation bans the sale, transfer, manufacturing and importation of:
All semiautomatic rifles that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one military feature: pistol grip; forward grip; folding, telescoping, or detachable stock; grenade launcher or rocket launcher; barrel shroud; or threaded barrel.
All semiautomatic pistols that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one military feature: threaded barrel; second pistol grip; barrel shroud; capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip; or semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.
All semiautomatic rifles and handguns that have a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
All semiautomatic shotguns that have a folding, telescoping, or detachable stock; pistol grip; fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 5 rounds; ability to accept a detachable magazine; forward grip; grenade launcher or rocket launcher; or shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
All ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips, and drums) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
157 specifically-named firearms (listed at the end of this document).
The legislation excludes the following weapons from the bill:
Any weapon that is lawfully possessed at the date of the bill’s enactment;
Any firearm manually operated by a bolt, pump, lever or slide action;
Assault weapons used by military, law enforcement, and retired law enforcement; and
Antique weapons.
The legislation protects hunting and sporting firearms:
The bill excludes 2,258 legitimate hunting and sporting rifles and shotguns by specific make and model.
The legislation strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and state bans by:
Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test.
o The bill also makes the ban harder to evade by eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test.
Banning dangerous aftermarket modifications and workarounds.
o Bump or slide fire stocks, which are modified stocks that enable semi-automatic weapons to fire at rates similar to fully automatic machine guns.
o So-called “bullet buttons” that allow the rapid replacement of ammunition magazines, frequently used as a workaround to prohibitions on detachable magazines.
o Thumbhole stocks, a type of stock that was created as a workaround to avoid prohibitions on pistol grips.
Adding a ban on the importation of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.
Eliminating the 10-year sunset that allowed the original federal ban to expire.
The legislation addresses the millions of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines currently in existence by:
Requiring a background check on all sales or transfers of a grandfathered assault weapon.
o This background check can be run through the FBI or, if a state chooses, initiated with a state agency, as with the existing background check system.
Prohibiting the sale or transfer of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices lawfully possessed on the date of enactment of the bill.
Allowing states and localities to use federal Byrne JAG grant funds to conduct a voluntary buy-back program for grandfathered assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices.
Imposing a safe storage requirement for grandfathered firearms, to keep them away from prohibited persons.
Requiring that assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices manufactured after the date of the bill’s enactment be engraved with the serial number and date of manufacture of the weapon
