Man Commits Suicide Live On Fox News
September 28,2012 – Phoenix, Arizona – While reporting on a car jacking turned high speed chase today, Fox News was covering all the action live via helicopter.
After several miles, the carjacker pulled onto a dirt road and stopped. He left the vehicle, ran on foot a ways, stopped, put a gun to his head and fired. The man dropped dead, right there, live on Fox News.
Anchor Shepard Smith, who was calling the play by play later apologized to viewers for not cutting away. “We really messed up,” he said.”We’re all very sorry. That didn’t belong on TV.”
Isn’t Fox News motto, “We report, you decide?”
I personally have no problems with what they did today. That’s life in the real world.
Listen folks, this was live television and anything can happen. This is why people go to NASCAR races and boxing matches. They want to witness something traumatic.
How many times have you driven past an auto accident and looked to see if anyone was killed? It’s human nature to be curious. Everyone wants to see the train wreck. As tragic as these things are, we all really want to take a peep.
It’s no different than paying to watch a slasher movie. Sure it’s fake, but you get the same sick thrill from seeing someone get their head blown to pieces thanks to movie special effects people.
What I don’t understand is why it’s perfectly acceptable in society to view these things on television, but somehow it’s a sin or perversion to watch two people making love on television.
Bloody hair, teeth and eyeballs, or steamy hot sex between two consenting adults? My conscience is clear. -JRoycroft
