Twitter Followers: You Didn’t Build That Following or Did You?
Sept 2, 2012 – How many Twitter followers do you have? Me? Not very many, simply because I only use it for up to the minute news reports and blog material, so I’m not really interested in gathering a following. Now, if I wanted more followers, say in the hundreds of thousands, or even millions, it would take about a penny per follower to accomplish that in just a matter of days. I’m content and don’t need to purchase an ego boost.
More and more people are learning that for just a few bucks one can purchase “fake” followers, just like Obama, or Lady Gaga, or even Mitt Romney.
Everything is fake with this guy – NYT: 70% of Obama’s Twitter followers are fake
If accurate, the number of fake followers out there is surprising. According to the StatusPeople tool, 71 percent of Lady Gaga’s nearly 29 million followers are “fake” or “inactive.” So are 70 percent of President Obama’s nearly 19 million followers.
I’ll just be content knowing the 58 Twitter followers I have are in fact legit, just as my 58 some Facebook followers, most of who are family, and of course WordPress.
What about you? Are your followers legit, or did you purchase them to boost your own ego? -JRoycroft
