Congressman Hank Johnson: Another Stupid Comment
July 25, 2012 – I had a great time at the range tonight with my son, Eric. We fired a few hundred rounds of .223 with his new AR15. I gotta get me one of those. I like my Glock 22, but there’s something about firing off rounds from a nice assault weapon that just gets the old adrenaline pumping.
I was thinking about those gun control fanatics, how pissed they would be knowing that me and my son were shooting the hell out of some silhouette targets. Damn how I love the smell gun powder and the sound of spent shells bouncing around a concrete floor.
Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson says it’s “open season” with assault weapons. You all remember Hank Johnson don’t you? He’s the guy who said Guam was going to capsize because of over population.
Yesterday, while addressing the House, Johnson had this to say about guns in America: “We have work to do in this congress. You see, the assault weapons ban in place for a number of years, of ten years actually, expired in 2004 and after the expiration of the assault weapons ban it’s been open season.”
Sorry Hank, you got it wrong again.
FBI crime statistics tell a different story. When the assault rifle ban expired in 2004, there were 9,385 homicides by firearms, with 403 being rifles. In 2010 (the latest year for which we have figures), there were 8,775 homicides involved guns and 358 using rifles.
Seems to be a little discrepancy there Hank. Looks to me like the numbers are going down, not up. It wouldn’t be because you lied about the numbers to push your gun control agenda now would it? Or maybe it’s because of your government education and you just didn’t know any better.
Good old Hank, making Georgia proud! – JRoycroft
The man is an embarrassment!….
