Facebook Friends Who Disappear Overnight
July 28, 2012 – How many of you wake up only to find your Facebook “friends” list has gotten smaller overnight?
Happens to everyone I suppose. Last night it happened to me. I woke up this morning to see that 6 people had left in the night, not a word of where or why they left.
No, I’m not sad, nor do I really give a flying fornication. I just don’t have anything else to bitch about today.
Here’s what I think happened – Most folks in my friends list are family, either mine or Lindsay’s. So I’ve noticed that when I make a status comment some folks get a bit nervous, including my dear wife, who will call me out on damn near anything that might be over the top. She is my filter. Trust me when I say this, if not for Lindsay, I would probably be in political prison or shunned by close family members.
I’ve always been outspoken on political issues, but not with family. Unless of course they agree with me, and I know exactly who agrees with me.
My family is divided into five distinct categories.
- Conservatives
- Liberals
- Libertarians
- Moochers
- Communists
- Suspected Gay
You can see that my family categories are probably pretty close to your own.
I know that right now someone is getting very nervous about this post. Don’t worry, I’m not going to out anyone. Don’t need to, we all know who you are, you just don’t know that we know who you are… And yes, we talk about you behind your back all the time.
Now about last night, and I know some of you are scrambling right now to see what it was that I wrote that caused six people to abandon me.
Last night, or rather yesterday I made a comment about something I had overheard while in a customers office. That’s all I’ll say.
I knew when I made that comment, someone might take it to heart and understand how it could very well have been indirectly aimed at them. It wasn’t intended that way. Actually, now that I think about it, it did have a remarkable resemblance to what a certain family recently went through. Ha! Now it all makes sense.
Most people who know me personally will tell you that I don’t hold back once pushed. I was pushed a lot growing up and made the decision to start pushing back early on. On a rare occasion someone will say that one thing that will set me off to the point where I am on that tiny little brink of insanity. You know what I’m talking about.
Sorry, I was beginning to drift off topic.
About Facebook friends- who really cares if they leave. Most wouldn’t give me the time of day. The only reason some are there is to boost their own friends list numbers. Me? Could not care less one way or the other. Facebook to me is nothing more than a way to vent and play with your emotions. Some of you have figured that out.
To all of you that put up with my twisted sense of humor, sarcasm and insensitive comments, I thank you and love you long time.
To those of you that ran away in the night with your tails between your legs, I will be talking about you, behind your backs, to everyone else that stayed behind. -JRoycroft
Friday Rant: C’mon Romney, Light My Fire
By Tammie Brown (middleagedhousewife.wordpress.com)
So far the upcoming Presidential Election is leaving feeling very pessimistic about our future. President Obama is well underway, spreading his “Fair Share” message across the country. He is busy adroitly employing the time honored and very effective, liberal strategy of “divide and conquer”. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney’s campaign strategy still seems to be, “I’m not Obama”. His bland and uninspiring style seem to suggest that since everyone knows how dangerous Obama is to everything America stands for, Romney doesn’t have to work so hard at getting elected. Unfortunately this is not the case. The conservative Republican base understands that Obama’s true but unstated objective is to turn this country into a Marxist style regime. However, many more Americans either don’t understand what that would mean for our individual way of life, or they just don’t care. Burdened with the hardships of our faltering economy they feel that it really doesn’t matter who’s in the White House, we are screwed either way. These are the people that Romney needs to pull back into the polls. He needs to let us in on his strategy for correcting the failures of the Obama presidency. He needs to show us how his policies will protect our future, and he needs to get us excited about them. Maybe Romney has too much class to stoop to class warfare, but his opponent does not. It’s time for Romney to “man-up” and put the pressure on. November is not that far away.
Chick-fil-A Under Political Assault By Liars And The Corrupt Obamamedia
July 26, 2012 – The Obama media has launched an all out assault on the Chick-fil-A company and in their sights is it’s president, Dan Cathy.
Apparently it’s ok for the left leaning group of characters who live without morals take issue with a man who believes in traditional values. Dan Cathy isn’t trying to shove his Christian beliefs on anyone, yet the left and it’s political anti-Christian agenda pushers are twisting Cathy’s words creating a firestorm of lies and deception in an effort to take down one of the most respected private companies in the world. Congressman Hank Johnson: Another Stupid Comment
July 25, 2012 – I had a great time at the range tonight with my son, Eric. We fired a few hundred rounds of .223 with his new AR15. I gotta get me one of those. I like my Glock 22, but there’s something about firing off rounds from a nice assault weapon that just gets the old adrenaline pumping.
I was thinking about those gun control fanatics, how pissed they would be knowing that me and my son were shooting the hell out of some silhouette targets. Damn how I love the smell gun powder and the sound of spent shells bouncing around a concrete floor.
Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson says it’s “open season” with assault weapons. You all remember Hank Johnson don’t you? He’s the guy who said Guam was going to capsize because of over population.
Yesterday, while addressing the House, Johnson had this to say about guns in America: “We have work to do in this congress. You see, the assault weapons ban in place for a number of years, of ten years actually, expired in 2004 and after the expiration of the assault weapons ban it’s been open season.”
Sorry Hank, you got it wrong again.
FBI crime statistics tell a different story. When the assault rifle ban expired in 2004, there were 9,385 homicides by firearms, with 403 being rifles. In 2010 (the latest year for which we have figures), there were 8,775 homicides involved guns and 358 using rifles.
Seems to be a little discrepancy there Hank. Looks to me like the numbers are going down, not up. It wouldn’t be because you lied about the numbers to push your gun control agenda now would it? Or maybe it’s because of your government education and you just didn’t know any better.
Good old Hank, making Georgia proud! – JRoycroft
Neal Boortz: Penn State
July 24, 2012 – My pal Neal Boortz makes a great argument in his recent blog post today…..
By Neal Boortz
So — let me get this straight. Southern Methodist University slips some dollars to key players, and they get the “death penalty” from the NCAA. Penn State officials participate in an organized cover-up of some coach who is having sex with little boys in the football locker room and they get fined the equivalent of one year’s worth of football revenues and they lose some scholarships? Slip money to players, really bad. Slip something else to little boys in the shower — not as bad. Yeah … that makes sense to me.
And what’s this yak squeeze about vacating all wins dating back to 2008? Does that really work? Do former Penn State players reminiscing about great games in Penn State history now tell their friends … “No. Everything has changed. We really didn’t win that game. I didn’t really score the winning touchdown.” I’m sorry .. but I just don’t get this. What if a college fraternity got into trouble because of some sexual improprieties that occurred during a frat party? Then along comes the fraternity council and these guys are told that as punishment all sex they’ve had with coeds in the previous three years has now been vacated. Is the frat-rat now going to say “Awwww man! And that brunette eight months ago was so goooood!”
Insensitive? Offensive? Yeah … like I care. It damned sure gets the point across.
Chick-fil-A Doesn’t Like Gays? Get Over It!
July 23, 2012 – If I hear one more idiot complain about Chick-fil-A’s stance on homosexuals I swear I’m gonna scream! Wait…I didn’t mean it that way. I don’t scream, I yell very loudly with a very masculine voice.
Some of you homophobes out there really need to get over yourselves and your fear of homosexuals.
Chick-fil-A is a private company and they have every right to make whatever statements they want regarding their views on gays or any other issue.
Although I don’t share their views, I do visit Chick-fil-A on occasion as do everyone else I know. In fact, it’s one of the very few fast food chains I will allow my children to eat at. They have excellent food, give excellent service and no other fast food restaurant can come even close to the quality and professional service they provide.
I believe, and am convinced that people never chose to become gay. There is enough scientific evidence that proves certain individuals are born homosexual. They didn’t just wake up one morning and decide to be gay. If you are one of those idiots who think that folks made a conscious decision to be gay then you need to ask yourself a question – At what point in your ignorant life did you make the decision to be heterosexual?
Did you know that some men who bash gays actually have latent homosexual tendencies? It’s true, go look it up.
A study was done, and Sigmund Freud also knew this, that if some men who openly bash gays were placed in a room, and exposed to gay porn, guess what? They got aroused.
So maybe next time you macho guys decide to call gays derogatory names and criticize them, maybe it’s because you’re just pissed because you hold a dark secret about yourself. Maybe your own wrist goes limp on occasion.
If you don’t like Chick-fil-A’s stance on homosexuals then shut the hell up and go find another place to eat your damn chicken. -JRoycroft
Israel Fears Terrorist Attack On Its Athletes During London Olympics
July 22, 2012 – I’ve been concerned that the London Olympics would be the target of an Iranian terror attack. It will be the 40th anniversary of the deadly Munich attack which killed 11 Israeli athletes and coaches by Palestinian terrorists on September 5, 1972. I remember that day very clearly.
I am convinced now, after hearing the reports from Mossad, Israel’s elite intelligence organization, that they are hunting Iranian-backed terrorists in Europe, that are believed to be planning an “anniversary” attack at the London Olympics.
According to Britain’s Sunday Times, In preparation for an Olympic terror assault, panic rooms for VIPs and spectators have been set up beneath London’s Olympic Stadium to protect them from being taken hostage or killed.
Scotland Yard and M15 have both raised the threat level against Israeli athletes and Israel’s elite security squad Shin Bet has also been sent to protect the 38 Israeli athletes who are living in the Athletes Village.
This is not a threat that is being taken lightly by anyone in the know.
Lets hope that the intelligence community can stay ahead of what has the very real potential of being an international tragedy.
What easier way could there possibly be to strike a deadly blow to the Israeli community than to execute a precision attack on the Olympic games in London. -JRoycroft
There Will Be Another Aurora
July 21, 2012 – How many more Aurora events will we watch unfold in the media during our lifetime?
Politicians will eventually use the Colorado massacre in their campaigns as will the gun control freaks and most certainly the Obama folks.
What happened in Colorado, like so many other similar horrible events will quickly fade into history only to be remembered in some documentary or a “This day in history” moment on some news program.
What happened in Aurora Colorado was a terrible tragedy, but more so, it was an extreme act of terrorism by a young white man who, for whatever crazed reason decided to plan a precision assault in a movie theater where innocent people were going to die that night.
There will be countless programs analyzing, dissecting, and commenting on why, what, and how someone could commit such a monstrous act of violence. Some will try to connect the dots so that they lead to a certain political or religious group. Others will say he had a bad childhood or will just try to excuse away his actions.
The cold hard truth in life is there are some very bad people out there who, for whatever their reasons will do this again and again and there is nothing anyone of us can do to prepare for, or predict their acts of violence.
Like it or not our world is full of potential mass murderers waiting for their moment to act. We have countless unsolved murders nationwide that have most likely been committed by serial killers who may never be caught. Your best friend or family member could very possibly be one of those people. You may never know.
While reading some of the many reports of the massacre I came across some photographs that just broke my heart. I won’t publish them, but they are out there. One is a photo of Mr Tom Sullivan walking around with a picture of his son Alex who was in the theater that night. He’s asking media and the police if they have seen him. Later, there is another photo of Mr Sullivan who has just been told that his son is among the dead victims. It was his sons 27th birthday. Out of all the many heart breaking photographs, that is the one I’ll not soon forget.
One thing we know about our society is there are people out there that are just bad, and there is absolutely nothing you, me, law enforcement or the government can do to protect you from them. Like it or not, welcome to the real world.
Pray for the victims of our most recent domestic terrorist attack. -JRoycroft
