THE ROYCROFT REPORT

May 1, 2012 – Virginia – It’s been two weeks  since reporters Dave Forster and Marjon Rostami were attacked. It happened as they were stopped at a red light after leaving a show at the Attucks Theatre. There was a crowd of about 100 young black teens walking down the sidewalk when a rock hit their window. Dave Forster got out of the vehicle to confront who ever threw the rock. Big damn mistake! It was then when the crowd attacked the two. It could have been much worse, but they both survived.

One of the arriving police officers told them about the government housing project nearby and that’s probably where the group of teens had come from. It was common for shootings and fights to break out there.

About inner city government housing projects:

I am all too familiar with the mentality of the young thugs who live in those welfare housing dumps. I worked in them for five long years here in the city of Atlanta. Not a night went by when we weren’t involved in fighting juvenile gang activity or various drug related trouble. We got our share of  foot chases and fighting thugs. At times we would be on the ground struggling with a perp while dozens of project roaches surrounded us cussing and spitting until our back up arrived. In the back of our minds was always the thought that at any moment, all it took was one shot to the head from one of those roaches. Our body armor offered no protection from a head shot. I suppose we were just lucky, or it just wasn’t our time. We were damn good at what we did and almost always catching our target.

It’s a completely different class of people in the projects. Most sleep all day and come out like roaches during the wee hours of the mornings to do their dirty work. The last place you wanted to be driving through after dark was the welfare housing projects. I saw it all. There were a hand full of families who were trying hard to get out, but to most it’s a way of life. Generation after generation continue to suck the system dry, because they can. Because they continue to vote for the person who assure them the lifestyle of being parasites and moochers.

The worst memory I have of working the projects was the evening my team, usually four of us, went out to our first sweep before dark of this particular project to get a feel of what we might be up against during the night. We had walked about a block from our post which was a vacant apartment within the project. We spotted an SUV parked at the curb, young white male slumped over, engine running. As we approached the vehicle we could clearly see the young man was foaming at the mouth, motionless. We gained entry into the vehicle only to discover the young man was dead. His body still warm. He had been shot.

This was apparently the victim of drug related robbery. A young man in the wrong neighborhood who probably came to buy some pot, got robbed and shot.

This wasn’t the first time I’d seen death in the projects, but it was the first time it really hit home with me. At the time, my own son was 19 years old, the same age as this victim. The young man was neatly dressed, clean cut. Had no sign of being a hard drug user. He was someones son that wasn’t coming home, ever again. He had come to the wrong place to score a buy.

The worst part about this story is that he had only been dead for just a few minutes and not one damn person came to his aid. The shooting occurred in front of several witnesses who did nothing. No one even bothered reporting it to 911. They just left him their to die. They all stood there gathered around, laughing, pointing as if they were attending some kind of side show. It made me sick. These weren’t normal folks, they were the scum in our society.

This is the mentality of most of the scum that lives in these welfare housing projects. They have no concern for your life or even their own. And when a group of these thugs gets together it takes only one spark to turn them into a vicious violent mob. It’s their culture. It’s to be expected. They live for the opportunity to prove what bad asses they are.

Sorry for getting off on a rant but these stories of thugs attacking innocent folks seems to be increasing and the media is trying to cover most of them. I know how these thugs think and act and I’m just damn sick of it all.
