This case is so sad.  It’s from Atlanta, where the culture of violence dominates is far-to-many communities.

Bobby Tillman, a young black man, was celebrating with some friends.  It was a party to recognize good grades for two classmates.  Word of the party started to spread on Facebook.

Enter Emanuel Boykins, another young black male.  Boykins was not invited to the party. He decided to attend anyway with some friends.  Dozens of uninvited people showed up.  According to the police investigation Boykins approached the scene of the party telling his friends that he was going to “pop” the next (n-word) he saw.  The next person he saw was Bobby Tillman.  Boykins sucker punched Tillman and knocked him to the ground.  Boykins and his fellow party-crashers then proceeded to pummel, kick and stomp Tillman to death.  They tore his aorta open with a stomp or a kick.

Boykins has finally accepted a plea deal.  He’ll get life in prison with the possibility of parole.  He’s eligible for parole in 30 years.  Three of his fellow thugs have also entered pleas.  A fourth is facing trial and the death penalty.

Did Boykins and his thug pals kill Emanuel Boykins because of their skin color?  Is this something they did because they’re black?  Hardly.  This is something they did because the embraced the culture of predatory violence that permeates the black community in Atlanta.

Now you won’t hear a lot of black so-called civil rights leaders address this culture of violence.  Why not?  Because culture can be changed.  To address the culture of violence you have to address the people participating in that culture.  You have to put the pressure on them to recognize their situation and to take action to change it.  Civil rights hustlers like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have no future making this their focus.  They have to concentrate on incidents where blacks become victims of WHITE violence.  If those situations are hard to find, no problem.  They’ll find a situation where a black man is the victim of a violent action from a Hispanic male – and they’ll just decree that the Hispanic is actually a WHITE Hispanic.  To keep their power Jackson and Sharpton must keep alive the image of blacks being victimized by whites.  Blacks being victimized by other blacks – victims of the culture of violence in the black community – offer Sharpton and Jackson nothing to exploit.

When the black community decides to recognize and to fight this culture of violence life in urban America will become much more peaceful and safe for many black families – and the rest of us.
