Gingrich Begins Campaign With Damage Control – It May Be Over For Newt
May 18, 2011 - Recently on Meet The Press, Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich had referred to the GOP Medicare proposal as “right-wing social engineering.” When moderator David Gregory pressed specifically on Ryan’s plan, Gingrich added: “I think that that is too big a jump. … I’m against Obamacare, which is imposing radical change. And I would be against a conservative imposing radical change.”
With that comment, Gingrich managed to set his campaign in a direction headed to failure. I don’t think Newt has a chance in hell of getting the nomination now.
With all the negative attention Gingrich has brought upon himself, he now has to put up with attacks from private citizens. Poor Newt, I really believe it’s over for him.
Generally I like Newt’s positions but he sure fumbled the ball on this one. Don’t think he ever did have a good chance at the nomination.
